Location: Hyderabad/Offshore
Experience: 5-8+ years
Position Summary
The Power Platform Developer builds applications, automations, and conversational agents using Microsoft Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents / Copilot Studio, and related Microsoft 365 tools.
This role works as part of a three-person technical partnership alongside the Senior Technical/Functional Lead (D365 F&O) and the Senior D365 F&O Technical Developer, building solutions that consume F&O data or trigger F&O processes through Dataverse, Business Events, or OData.
Ideally this role also brings X++ experience, meaning the ability to build and extend directly within F&O as well as around it, giving the team more flexibility on where a given solution gets built and closer collaboration with the other two roles.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Development
- Develop applications using Microsoft Power Platform components, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Virtual Agents / Copilot Studio, among others.
- Assess suitability for solutions across Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI) and Microsoft 365, including when a request should be built in Power Platform versus flagged to the F&O team as a core configuration or extension need.
- Apply Power Apps with an in-depth understanding of customisation, configuration, security, integration, and extensibility, as well as boundaries and constraints.
- Follow best practices for building and packaging Power Platform components.
- Develop and test Power Platform components.
- Install and configure data gateways.
- Develop Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions to extend Power Platform capabilities.
- Create custom connectors for Microsoft Power Automate, including connectors that surface F&O data through Dataverse virtual entities or OData endpoints.
F&O Collaboration
- Work directly with the Senior D365 F&O Technical Developer and Senior Technical/Functional Lead to understand which F&O entities, Business Events, and Dataverse virtual entities / dual-write tables are available to build against, and their constraints.
- Build Power Platform solutions that read from or trigger F&O processes, for example approval workflows for AP invoices, exception and reconciliation-alert dashboards, or self-service status lookups, and where X++ skills allow, extend F&O directly when that’s the better solution.
- Flag to the F&O team where a requested Power Platform solution would actually require an F&O-side change (a new data entity, a new Business Event, a security role adjustment) rather than attempting to work around it.
- Participate in joint design conversations with the Lead and Developer when a solution spans both Power Platform and F&O, so integration assumptions are agreed before build starts.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Use problem-solving skills to understand business stakeholders’ pain points and troubleshoot as challenges arise.
- Work directly with business stakeholders to collect and identify functional requirements, and support various projects and solutions.
- Design end-to-end solutions that improve collaboration, productivity, and knowledge sharing.
- Identify areas and processes where Microsoft 365, Office 365, and SharePoint can be better leveraged, and facilitate process improvement.
- Provide architecture, configuration, administration, and functional support to expand capabilities in Microsoft 365.
Qualifications
Experience and Education
- 5+ years of professional experience.
- Excellent customer-facing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Power Platform: Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and Power Virtual Agents.
- Experience using data connectors, limits, and the Dataverse security model (role levels, record ownership).
- Experience building Power Automate Desktop flows.
- .NET development experience with C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, Entity Framework, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS is an asset.
- Experience working with SharePoint Online and MS Teams, and utilizing Power Apps and Power Automate to extend SharePoint functionality.
- Understanding of the Power Platform licensing model and limits.
- Experience with using SPFX, React, and TypeScript is an asset.
F&O Skills (Strongly Preferred)
Ideally this role brings genuine range across both Power Platform and F&O, giving the team more flexibility on where solutions get built.
- Working understanding of how F&O data is exposed to Power Platform via Dataverse virtual entities, dual-write, and OData APIs, including what is and isn’t available or performant to query this way.
- Experience customizing D365 or building Model-driven Apps against Dataverse/F&O data.
- Understanding of F&O’s Business Events model as a trigger mechanism for Power Automate flows.
- X++ development experience, enabling this role to build or extend directly within F&O alongside the Senior Technical Developer when needed.
Preferred Certifications
- Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400).
